About Us

Style For All Seasons

Tyner-Shorten Clothiers is a “unique shopping experience” for men's clothing. As you approach the store, you realize it is a cross between a golf course clubhouse and a stylish bungalow you might want to call home. This distinct building is located on Fanshawe Park Road in London, Ontario - between Adelaide Street on the west and Highbury Avenue on the east.

The atmosphere inside the store is comfortable and quiet. The fireplace, television and comfortable wing back chairs all add to the feeling of home. The solid oak shelving and display areas reflect a decorative golf theme.

The look of the store is aimed partially at Tyner-Shorten Clothier’s clientele, but is mainly decorated to show off our love of the game of golf. The golf theme is carried throughout the store, with golfer’s pictures, memorabilia, and even chairs are upholstered in a golf-themed fabric.

Whether you are a golf enthusiast or not, it is an inviting environment. “It’s like buying clothes in your family room”, says Bob Small, owner and veteran clothing stylist. Tyner-Shorten Clothiers, a free standing destination store (rather than just one shop in a mall), provides privacy, selection and relaxation.

Stores operating on customer-driven hours will open earlier for shoppers to come in before work, or close earlier so staff can spend time with their families. Our location offers ample parking at our front door. In this setting we host special events, like ‘by invitation’ Ladies Nights to showcase Tyner-Shorten Clothing before Christmas. This type of event recalls the days when businesses were able to offer more personalized service. To experience this service first hand, come visit us at Tyner-Shorten Clothiers.

Bob Small

Former Owner (Retired)

Early in his career, Bob worked at Tyner-Shorten Clothiers in Argyle Mall in London. He started at that location in 1970. After he purchased Tyner-Shorten Clothiers, Bob quickly came to realize that the mall location wasn’t right for him and his new business. One major consideration was the fact that men shop differently than women. Bob noticed that men tend not to browse, they shop less frequently, they prefer a one stop shopping environment, and enjoy clothes that fit better and wear longer. Many businesses choose to locate in larger malls because of pedestrian traffic. This approach was of little advantage to Tyner-Shorten Clothiers, since most of Bob’s customers drove some distance to visit his Argyle store. He felt his business would flourish in a free standing building that was more conveniently located, offering an open, warm, and inviting atmosphere. In September 1994, Tyner-Shorten Clothiers moved to their present location at 1152 Fanshawe Park Road East.

Bob does the buying for Tyner-Shorten Clothiers working in concert with the sales consultants to ensure a wide cross section of tastes and wardrobe needs are covered during each fashion cycle in a given year.
